New patients
Your first visit, step by step.
What happens at your first visit, your report of findings, and every visit after that.
Visit 1
Consultation & examination
Most people come to us through a friend or a referral from another doctor. The goal of the first visit is to make sure we can help you relieve or correct your condition. Once we know you’re a patient who can get better, we get started.
Your history
Before your consultation you’ll tell us about your symptoms and condition. Dr. Haynes may ask:
- When and how did the pain start?
- Where is it?
- Was it caused by an injury?
- What makes it better? What makes it worse?
- Who are your other doctors, and what procedures have you had?
We’ll also ask about family medical history, existing conditions, prior injuries and past treatment.
The chiropractic exam
Along with general tests like blood pressure, pulse, breathing and reflexes, the exam includes orthopedic and neurological tests of:
- Range of motion of the affected area
- Muscle tone
- Muscle strength
- Neurological integrity
- X-rays, if needed
Depending on what we find, further tests may help, such as posture analysis, an MRI or nerve conduction testing.
In pain right now? It’s important to know what’s causing your condition before we treat it, but we offer emergency relief on the first visit when you need it.
Visit 2
Report of findings
Usually the day after your first visit (the same day for acute cases), we explain what we found and how we can help. If X-rays were taken, we go over them with you, often with an anatomical model so it all makes sense.
There are usually several ways to treat a condition, and you’ll have choices. We’ll tell you how much improvement to expect and how long it should take, then give you an individual treatment schedule and a re-exam date to check your progress.
Treatment starts right away, and every part of it is explained before it’s done.
Every visit
The Haynes treatment
As we say: there’s good treatment, better treatment, and there’s Haynes Chiropractic treatment.
Visits are scheduled around your busy Bakersfield life and last 20 to 40 minutes, depending on your condition. Most patients go straight in to see the doctor. Afterward, some are recommended physical therapy, and others get a therapeutic massage before or after their adjustment.
Dr. Haynes’ approach blends straight and diversified chiropractic methods, muscle function protocols, and home exercise, nutrition and ergonomic advice.
Our no-pain policy
Every treatment is designed to reach your goals without pain. Over the years we’ve mastered techniques that work without hurting.
Our no-wait policy
Our office runs on your schedule. Most patients see the doctor as soon as they arrive.
